A private catalog for one record collection
CrateShelf is a personal web app for cataloguing a vinyl and CD collection. It is built and run by CW King for his own use.
What it does
- Keeps a record of each album, the specific pressings and variants owned, and each physical copy.
- Tracks items that have been ordered but haven't arrived yet.
- Records what each item cost, including tax and shipping, and an estimate of its current resale value.
- Looks up catalog details by barcode from public music databases.
Why it asks for access to Gmail
CrateShelf uses Google sign-in to get read-only access to the owner's own Gmail account. It searches for music purchase receipts and shipping notices, so that orders, prices, and deliveries can be filled in without retyping them. It can't send, change, label, or delete email. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what it reads, keeps, and discards.
Who can use it
CrateShelf is not open to the public. There is no sign-up, and the only account is the owner's. If that changes, this page and the Privacy Policy will be updated first.
